Mastermind Story

I played this game a lot in my final year of high school. My friend Nick and I used to play in class, when we should have been working. Ah, class was too boring to bother paying attention!

I also introduced it to my French class, and we played it a couple of dozen times there, using French words. That was a lot harder, since our vocabulary was only about 2000 different words, plus inflected forms, so finding words to use as guesses was difficult. Jason and Graham came up with the most difficult word we came across: HEBDO, a shortened form of hebdomadaire, meaning `weekly'. Even with the teacher and the French assistant teacher guessing, and even having worked out all five letters, we still couldn't guess the word.
